FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below you will find the answers to some of your most frequently asked questions. If you would like further information after reading the answers below, you are welcome to take a look at our student handbook (español). As always, you are welcome to give us a call with any additional questions you may have.
WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR STELLAR ACADEMY?
We expect our students to dress in a way that shows respect for themselves, for others, and for their school. Students may not wear any clothing that distracts from the learning experience.
Specifically, we do not allow:
-
Clothing that promotes drugs or gang-related activity
-
Clothing with explicit or derogatory language/messages
-
Open-toed or backless shoes (for safety reasons)
Stellar Academy logos/shirts are acceptable and available for purchase during our Spirit Wear sale in the fall of each year.
We reserve the right to determine whether a student’s clothing is appropriate for school. For more details regarding our dress code, please review the Student Handbook.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF MY CHILD BECOMES ILL AT SCHOOL?
If a student becomes ill, we will attempt to notify a parent or guardian promptly, and we will care for the student in our front office until a parent or guardian arrives. If the situation becomes a medical emergency, we will follow standard emergency procedures. Please keep your emergency contact information accurate in our front office, so we can contact you as quickly as possible. If your child becomes ill at school or experiences any Covid-19 Symptoms (at school or home) including: fever, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, sore throat, runny nose, severe headache, fatigue, difficulty breathing, or a new loss of taste/smell = keep them home and do not send them to school. Follow the Alameda County Office of Education’s (ACOE) COVID Parents Flowchart for Parents regarding when they can return to school. Should your child test positive for Covid-19 you must contact the Office so that we can activate our required notification protocols. We’ll look forward to welcoming you back at the appropriate time.
DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN SCHOOL LUNCH PROGRAMS?
No, we don’t. As a private school who rents its facilities, we do not have the capacity to prepare or serve hot lunches at this time. Full-day students should plan to bring a sack lunch to school every day unless otherwise notified. Due to student allergies, we ask our students not to share food and for families to refrain from sending nuts/nut products to the school.
CAN I VISIT MY CHILD (OR MY CHILD’S TEACHER) AT SCHOOL?
We appreciate parental involvement at Stellar and welcome your volunteer assistance with field trip carpooling and support at specific on-campus events. For more information about volunteering, please see our Giving page. Due to the intensive nature of instruction at Stellar, and to ensure the general safety of students and staff, all visitors must check in with the school office immediately upon arriving on school grounds. To make an appointment with the Head of School, your child’s teacher, or to visit your child’s classroom, please contact our front office.
CAN I SET UP A PAYMENT PLAN FOR TUITION?
Yes. We offer two different ways to pay for tuition at Stellar. You may:
pay tuition upfront and receive a generous discount.
pay tuition over a 10-month period of equal installments.
For more information, please see our Registration and Tuition page.
